Alaska’s District 15 covers several scenic neighborhoods in southwest Anchorage. The area is largely residential and has great access to outdoor activities. The neighborhood of Sand Lake contains 4 of the district’s lakes including Jewel Lake, which is the most accessible and a great spot for fishing, birding, or taking the family to the park. The neighborhoods of Campbell Lake and Bayshore also feature lakes as well as parks and green spaces with walking trails where you can relax and enjoy the beauty of Alaska’s outdoors. While you’re visiting the area, District 15 is directly adjacent to Kincaid Park, known for its cross country running, skiing, and single track trails.
Alaska’s District 15 looks different today than a few years ago. In 2022, the district was redrawn by the Alaska Redistricting Board. Today, District 15 covers some of Anchorage’s oldest and newest neighborhoods, spanning 6 election precincts. From homesteads dating to the earliest days of Anchorage, through the pipeline era explosion in the 1970’s, to today’s ongoing development of Anchorage’s newest neighborhoods in Westpark and Prominence Point, southwest Anchorage has been a great place to find recreational opportunities and peaceful places where Alaskans have settled to raise their families and build a bright future.
